Arkansas man's shooting death ruled accidental, sheriff's office says

A south Arkansas man’s shooting death over the weekend has been ruled accidental, according to the Clark County sheriff’s office.

Jessie Lamar Thompson, 52, was found Sunday evening at a home in the 200 block of Cedar Street in Gurdon by a family member who then contacted law enforcement and emergency responders, a news release states.

Authorities said they responded to a call around 5 p.m. to the home in reference to a shooting. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.

After further investigation, the sheriff's office said Thompson's death was considered accidental based on evidence collected at the scene.

His body has been sent to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy. Additional information regarding the ongoing investigation will be released as it becomes available, according to the news release.
