On Monday, the Pulaski County sheriff's office identified the body its investigators found Sunday morning in the Arkansas River.

Officials identified the body as that of Khalil Smith, 19, the office said in a news release. He was last seen swimming in the river Saturday.

Searchers found the body around 11 a.m. Sunday, Arkansas Online previously reported. At the time, officials could not determine the identity of the body, but it was found in the same area where Smith went missing Saturday.

The North Little Rock fire department and the sheriff's office looked for Smith on Saturday afternoon and night before the search resumed Sunday morning.

The sheriff's office said it believes Smith's death was an accidental drowning, and the medical examiner will make the final determination.
