A gunshot victim led Cross County authorities to a house where they discovered at least one gun, ammunition, drugs and more than $34,000 in cash.

According to a news release form the sheriff's office, deputies were called to a home in the 100 block of Mitchum Street in Parkin around 11 p.m. Thursday on a report of shots fired and multiple people needing emergency attention.

A 23-year-old woman who was shot in the right arm was taken to CrossRidge Community Hospital. She told deputies that there were two or three other people at the house.

Deputies entered the house to see if there was anyone else there. Inside, they found a strong smell of marijuana and a pool of blood behind a bar, the release said. Deputies were then granted a search warrant.

With additional searching, authorities found .45-caliber magazines with boxes of ammunition; AR-15 magazines and ammunition; a 22-caliber pistol; marijuana; and cash in a black trash bag. The cash added up to $34,520, including a counterfeit $20 bill.

Deputies also seized a blue 2006 GMC Sierra, the release said.

Deputies also found shell casings outside the home, which the release said is the residence of Tremaine Slaughter.

The investigation is ongoing.
