SPRINGDALE -- A Washington County man was arrested Friday in connection with the rape and attempted murder of a woman last year, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Brian David Post, 48, of Springdale was arrested in connection with rape, kidnapping and attempted capital murder, all felonies.

The woman was found May 19, 2015, by her mother at a house on Cemetery Road in Rogers. She was in her bedroom, lying partially clothed on her bed in a pool of blood with severe injuries to her leg, the affidavit said.

The woman told police she believed Post abused and tortured her over a 24-hour period, the affidavit said.

While drifting in and out of consciousness, the woman told police she heard Post say he would be able to blame her death on her dogs.

Cuts to the woman's leg were consistent with a sharp knife and no bite marks were found on her body, the affidavit said. Police also noted the dogs had no blood on their mouths.

Post was being held Sunday at the Benton County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond. Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Post.

Post's arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. Aug. 29 in Circuit Judge Robin Green's court.
