2 workers rescued from grain bin in Arkansas after hours-long effort

Two men trapped in a northeast Arkansas grain bin Tuesday morning were rescued hours later, according to the Marked Tree Police Department.

Police said the call came in at 11:38 a.m. from Ritter Grain Services at 300 Adamson Road in Marked Tree, which is about 35 miles southeast of Jonesboro.

By Tuesday evening, the men were rescued alive, confirmed Susan Christian, vice president of marketing for Ritter Grain. Their identities and conditions were not immediately known.

Oxygen was pumped to the men as agencies from Marked Tree, Jonesboro, West Memphis and Bay worked to open up the grain bin, The Associated Press reported.
