Arkansas woman's purse stolen while playing 'Pokemon Go,' police say

Jonesboro police say a woman’s purse was stolen earlier this week after she put her SUV in park for a few seconds and stepped out of her vehicle to perform a "Pokemon Go" task on her phone.

The theft occurred in the parking lot of The Links at Jonesboro in the 900 block of Links Circle about 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report.

The woman, 24-year-old Alisha Carson of Jonesboro, told police that a “short, black male” in a stocking cap opened the passenger door to her 2015 Toyota RAV4 and grabbed her purse as she played "Pokemon Go."

An 18-year-old male suspect listed in the report was described by authorities as standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds.

Carson said the man, whose identity was not released, then ran east with the purse, which contained multiple credit cards and her driver’s license.
