Motorcycle crashes in Arkansas kill 2; injuries fatal for a 3rd

Two men died over the weekend from injuries they received in separate motorcycle crashes, according to preliminary reports the Arkansas State Police has released since Monday. Police also reported the death of a driver who developed pneumonia from crash-related injuries, according to a report released Tuesday.

A 70-year-old man died Sunday after he was thrown from a motorcycle in a Benton County crash last week, according to a state police report.

At around 3:50 p.m. July 18, Richard Hough of Centerton was driving a Honda motorcycle west on Arkansas 102 when he struck a 2008 Kia Sport that was turning onto the road, police said.

Hough was ejected from the motorcycle and died from his injuries Sunday, according to the report.

A Malvern man died Saturday after he crashed a motorcycle on U.S. 270 in Hot Spring County, according to a police report released Tuesday.

Christopher Motes, 36, was driving west at around 3:21 p.m. Friday when he lost control on a curve and left the road, police said.

Motes was transported to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, police said. He was pronounced dead on Saturday, according to the report.

A 61-year-old man died earlier this month after he developed pneumonia from injuries he received in a crash on Interstate 49, police reported Tuesday.

At around 6:05 p.m. July 4, Karl Weitzmann of Rogers was driving south on Interstate 49 in a 2004 Ford when he lost control and struck a temporary concrete barrier, police said.

Weitzmann's injuries caused him to develop pneumonia and he died on July 14, police said.
