Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Tuesday included:

Baxter International Inc., a profit of $1.21 billion, or $2.19 a share, up from $332 million, or 13 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 4.4 percent to $2.59 billion. Shares rose $1.91 to close Tuesday at $48.01.

DuPont, a profit of $1.02 billion, or $1.16 a share, from $940 million, or $1.03 a share, a year ago. Revenue slipped to $7.06 billion. Shares rose 28 cents to $69.16.

Eli Lilly & Co., the drugmaker, a profit of $747.7 million, or 71 cents a share, up from $600.8 million, or 56 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 8.7 percent to $5.4 billion. Shares rose 11 cents to $82.09.

McDonald’s Corp., the world’s largest burger chain, a profit of $1.09 billion, or $1.25 a share, from $1.2 billion, or $1.26 a share, a year ago. Revenue fell 4 percent, to $6.26 billion. Shares fell $5.69 to $121.71.

3M Co., the maker of Postit notes, industrial coatings and ceramics, a profit of $1.29 billion, or $2.08 a share, from $1.3 billion, or $2.02 a share, a year ago. Revenue was $7.66 billion. Shares fell $1.97 to $177.66.
