Deltic's $4.2M profit tops that of '15's 2Q

Deltic Timber on Wednesday reported a profit of of $4.2 million, or 35 cents a share, for the second quarter of 2016, compared with a profit of $800,000, or 7 cents a share, in the second quarter of 2015.

The El Dorado-based company attributed the increase to an improved market for lumber and the sale of residential lots and commercial real estate acreage.

For the first six months of this year, net income was $4.6 million, compared with $2.7 million for the first six months of 2015.

The company reported a sustainable harvest of pine timber but a weak market for pine pulpwood. Deltic also closed on the sale of several residential lots and the sale of a 10.8-acre site, all in the Chenal Valley development.

Deltic will hold a conference call at 10 a.m. today to discuss the report. Those interested can call (888) 771-4371 and using the pass code of 42935543. The call can also be accessed at deltic.com.
