Small earthquake shakes part of Arkansas

A small earthquake registering 2.8 in magnitude Wednesday evening shook parts of north Pope County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey in Memphis.

Geologists said the earthquake, reported around 7:20 p.m., was about 2.5 miles north of Dover on a fault around 1.4 miles beneath the surface.

No injuries or damage was reported in the county.

It was the only earthquake in Arkansas within the past seven days, according to geologists. Six other tremors were recorded in the state earlier this month, all registering below 2.5 in magnitude.
