Yoakam most recently performed in Arkansas in October when he headlined a night of the 28th anniversary of the MusicFest in El Dorado. Prior to that, he opened for Eric Church's stop at North Little Rock's Verizon Arena in September 2014.

Yoakam, a 59-year-old Kentucky native who grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and rose to fame in the mid-1980s, is also an actor (Sling Blade, Panic Room and The Last Rites of Ransom Pride) and director.

But he's best known for his music, having recorded more than 20 albums and compilations, charting more than 30 singles on the Billboard country charts and selling more than 25 million records worldwide. Yoakam has 12 gold albums and nine platinum or multi-platinum ones, including the triple-platinum This Time, which included the hits "Ain't That Lonely Yet" and "A Thousand Miles From Nowhere."

Five of his albums have topped Billboard's country albums chart with an additional 14 rising into the Top 10. His hits include "Honky Tonk Man," "Please, Please Baby," "Little Ways," "I Sang Dixie," "It Only Hurts When I Cry" and "Fast as You."

He has been nominated for 21 Grammys and won two, one for "Ain't That Lonely Yet" and the other for Same Old Train, a collaboration with several other artists including Merle Haggard, Earl Scruggs and Emmylou Harris, in 1999. His critically acclaimed Three Pears scored the "Artist of the Year" at the 2013 Americana Music Honors & Awards. After that album, Yoakam recorded Second Hand Heart in 2015.
