17-year-old accused in Monday's Fayetteville shooting arrested

Police arrested 17-year-old boy Friday who they believe shot an 18-year-old man at a Fayetteville apartment complex Monday night, said Sgt. Craig Stout, police spokesman.

Police are not releasing the boy’s name because he is under the age of 18. The boy was arrested on suspicion of first-degree battery and possession of a handgun by a minor, a misdemeanor offense, Stout said.

Eduardo Cedillo was shot in the stomach atl about 11:15 p.m. Monday at 2862 N. Gregg Ave., Apt. 4, according to a police dispatch report. Police searched for the boy and said earlier this week they thought they knew who the shooter was, Stout said previously.

Stout said previously he didn’t know how serious Cedillo’s wound was. The bullet went completely through, leaving a small hole, according to a dispatch report.

Cedillo wasn’t listed at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville or Northwest Medical Center-Springdale on Tuesday afternoon.
