The United Methodist Women hold the annual rummage sale from 8 a.m.to 1 p.m. Aug. 6. Sale items include knickknacks, linens, sporting goods, electronics, kitchenware, toys, tools and books. Orange rolls, cinnamon rolls and lunch will be served.

The church presents a jazz performance by Dan Knight and the Usual Suspects at 7 p.m. Aug. 12. Homemade desserts will be served.

The church plans “Supercharged,” a community event of fun, food and fellowship from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Tanyard Creek pavilion and park in Bella Vista.

First Baptist Church in Bentonville, 200 S. Main St., presents its 14th annual Clothing Giveaway from 7 a.m. to noon Aug. 6 in the church’s Family Life Center.

Donations of new and gently used clothes and shoes will be collected from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the Family Life Center. Children’s clothing and shoes are a special need.

Rogers First Church of the Nazarene, 4911 W. Pleasant Grove Road, presents an emergency preparedness seminar for places of worship Aug. 27. The event is hosted by Security Preparedness Solutions. Vendors open at 7:30 a.m., and the seminar sessions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $50, and includes a catered lunch.

Breakout sessions include question and answers with local police chiefs, using security technology in a church, starting a safety team, response to acts of violence and active shooters.

The Neighborhood Church in Bentonville, 2003 SW. Regional Airport Road, presents members of the church mission team to Guatemala speaking about their experiences from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The evening includes Guatemalan music and cuisine. Cost is $10 per person or $20 per family, with proceeds underwriting the cost of the trip.

The church will hold a worship service and “backyard games” at 9 a.m. Aug. 14 at the church’s new property site.

A KidCity kickoff is planned for Aug. 21.

United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, celebrates the installation of its new pastor, the Rev. Karen Fowler-Lindemulder, at 4 p.m. Sunday. Bishop Mike Girlinghouse will preside. A reception follows in Luther Hall.

The Presbyterian Curch of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., hosts the Presbyterian Women Cluster 1 Fall Gathering at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 26. The theme is “A Journey to Understanding.” Registration is $10, which includes lunch, and the deadline is Aug. 12.

The church collects snacks for kids during July and August. Easy snacks and lunch items are needed, including granola bars, peanut butter and cheese crackers and single-serve fruit cups, macaroni, ravioli and soup.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., holds only one worship service Sunday, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school and adult Bible classes are canceled.

The church offers a worship service at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 2 for those unable to attend a regularly scheduled service. Lunch will be served after the service, and transportation is available.

New Life Christian Church in Bella Vista, 103 Riordan Road, sponsors the men’s ministry for a free barbecue lunch and showing of the movie War Room. Lunch is served at 11 a.m., and the movie begins at noon today.

Caudle Avenue Baptist Church in Springdale, 404 Caudle Ave., hosts a free community meal at 5 p.m. today. The meal will be served in the fellowship hall, to take advantage of the church’s air conditioning. The meal includes ham, potato salad, baked beans, dessert and water.

The Jewish Studies Program at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville offers the Introduction to Jewish Languages class in the fall semester, taught by Jacob Adler, UA professor and rabbi of Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville. Students will learn the basics of biblical Hebrew, Mishnaic Hebrew, modern Hebrew, Aramaic and Yiddish.

Faith Bible Church in Holiday Island, 3 Parkcliff Drive, offers a 13-week Griefshare session beginning with a session from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 14 at the church. This Bible-based, nondenominational support group is for people who have lost loved ones.

Holiday Island Community Church, 188 Stateline Drive in Eureka Springs, presents and evening of Frank Sinatra music at 4:30 p.m. today in its Woodward Memorial Concert Series.
