J.B. Hunt co-founder makes Forbes list of America's Richest Self-Made Women

The co-founder of Lowell-based J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. sits at No. 5 on the latest Forbes list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women.

In the list released Wednesday, 84-year-old Johnelle Hunt's net worth is valued at $2.3 billion.

Forbes also ranked Hunt at No. 307 in the Forbes 400 for 2015 and No. 854 among billionaires in 2016.

She and late trucking tycoon J.B. Hunt bought five used trucks and seven trailers in 1969 to start J.B. Hunt Transport Services, which has since grown to a firm with $6.2 billion in sales and nearly 16,000 drivers, according to the magazine.

The No. 1 spot on the list of America's Richest Self-Made Women goes to Diane Hendricks, co-founder and chairman of ABC Supply, who has a net worth of $4.9 billion.
