One of the better 2018 prospects in the state will be working out at multiple positions while attending Arkansas’ three-day camp June 19-21.

Billy Ferrell, 6-4, 309 of Fordyce is a very athletic prospect who is looking to learn a few tips while lining up at tight end and on the defensive line.

“At tight end, I want to learn how to time the ball and to catch it at the highest point, and how to run crispier routs and how to stimulate the safety as far as I can to get him out the play,” Ferrell said.

He recorded 65 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 12 quarterback hurries, 3 forced fumbles, a recovered fumble and 3 pass deflections last year.

“At defensive tackle, I want to learn more technical things as in how to be a better pass rusher and being way better on getting of my blocks in the running game,” Ferrell said. “While I'm up there I'm going to try and work on my snap count to get that down pat too.”

Arkansas tight end coach Barry Lunney Jr. was able to see Ferrell firsthand against Hog freshman receiver Jordan Jones and Smackover on Oct. 16.

Ferrell, who had the best free throw and field goal percentage on the Redbugs’ basketball team, batted over .300 for the school’s baseball team this spring.

Earning a scholarship offer from the Hogs would be big for him and his family.

“I would be a big honor to get a scholarship to any D-I college and to get to play on Saturdays, but my family would be even happier if I get one from Arkansas because it's in state and would be free,” Ferrell said.
