Razorbacks bring Ash aboard

Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema has hired Rob Ash as the program's offensive analyst, the school announced Thursday.

Ash, 64, has 36 years of college head coaching experience, most recently at Montana State from 2007-2015. Ash is the all-time leader in victories at Montana State, Drake (1989-2006) and Juniata College (1980-1989). His record is 246-137-5.

"We are very excited to add another quality coach with head coaching experience to our program," Bielema said in a news release. "Rob will work with our staff in advanced preparation and also various projects with me. His background and experience with college football align him well with our program."

Ash played quarterback at Cornell College in Iowa, where he earned Little All-America and Academic All-America honors as a senior in 1972. He served as president of the American Football Coaches Association in 2011. His teams at Montana State won three Big Sky Conference championships and earned four Football Championship Subdivision playoff berths.

Chargers sign former Hog Henry

The San Diego Chargers signed former Arkansas tight end Hunter Henry to a four-year contract Thursday.

Terms were not disclosed.

Henry, of Little Rock, was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft in April with the 35th overall pick. In his three-year career at Arkansas, Henry caught 116 passes for 1,661 yards and 9 touchdowns. He was a first-team All-American and John Mackey Award winner last season as the nation's top tight end after catching 51 passes for 739 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Chargers have signed six of their eight draft picks. Defensive end Joey Bosa (first round) and center Max Tuerk (third round) remain unsigned.

VOLLEYBALL

ASU promotes Johnson

Arkansas State Coach David Rehr has promoted Tristan Johnson to associate head coach.

Johnson, who will enter his third season at ASU, has helped the Red Wolves win at least 20 matches in consecutive seasons. ASU finished 28-2 in 2015, winning the Sun Belt Conference regular-season and tournament championships. The Red Wolves made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1999 and fifth overall.

UAFS adds to staff

Arkansas-Fort Smith has hired Tyler Kanelos as assistant coach.

Kanelos previously was a volunteer assistant coach at NCAA Division II West Florida. He has also worked at Lock Haven, also a Division II school.

Kanelos replaces former assistant coaches Jonny and Stephanie Neeley. Jonny Neeley was hired as an assistant at Brigham Young.

WRESTLING

Ozarks names coach

The University of the Ozarks named LeRoy Gardner III, a member of the National Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame, as its new wrestling coach Thursday.

Gardner, of Golden Valley, Minn., comes to Ozark from the University of Houston-Downtown. He has also coached at the Naval Academy Preparatory School and Wartburg College.
