63 in state earn National Merit honors

Sixty-three members of the Arkansas high school Class of 2016 are among about 3,000 new graduates nationally to be named as winners of National Merit Scholarships that are financed by colleges and universities.

The awards range from $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of study at the campuses funding the scholarships.

The recipients named last week are the third group of high school seniors to be named National Merit Scholarship winners. Other recipients were named April 20 and May 11. Another group will be announced July 18.

The list, by hometown, shows the name of the students, high schools, intended field of study, and the colleges or universities where they plan to attend:
