CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Charles Ameer hit a tiebreaking home run leading off the bottom of the seventh inning and fourth-seeded William & Mary (31-30) ended Virginia's defense of its national championship on Sunday with a 5-4 victory in the Charlottesville Regional.
Ameer's eighth home run of the season came against Virginia closer Tommy Doyle (2-7), who came on in the second inning when starter Daniel Lynch faltered. Doyle, who allowed five runs in the ninth inning in a stunning 8-6 loss to East Carolina on Saturday night, allowed two runs in 41/3 innings Sunday.

Gamecocks stay alive
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Tyler Johnson held UNC Wilmington's potent offense to five hits and South Carolina (45-16) avoided elimination for a third consecutive game with a 10-1 victory.
The Seahawks (41-18) had 22 runs and 27 hits in winning their first two regional games.

Sun Devils hold on
FORT WORTH -- Colby Woodmansee had a tiebreaking double in the fourth inning, Zach Dixon struck out nine in eight solid innings and Arizona State beat Gonzaga (36-21) 6-3.
NASHVILLE REGIONAL
Fisher leads Gauchos
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Clay Fisher hit a two-run double in the top of the fourth inning, and UC Santa Barbara held off Xavier (31-29) 5-4.
Austin Bush, who beat Washington with a walk-off home run in the 14th inning of the regional opener, capped a three-run first inning with a solo shot for the Gauchos.
CLEMSON REGIONAL
Beer powers Tigers
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Seth Beer hit his 18th home run and drove in three runs as Clemson (44-19) routed Western Carolina, eliminating the Catamounts (31-31) with a 15-3 victory.
Beer put the Tigers ahead 3-0 with a two-run double in the third. He added a solo home run to right center in the sixth.
LUBBOCK REGIONAL
Dallas Baptist alive
LUBBOCK, Texas -- Matt Duce went 2 for 2 with a home run and two runs scored and Dallas Baptist edged New Mexico (39-23) 5-3.
Six Dallas Baptist (43-18) players had multi-hit games, with Trooper Reynolds leading the way with a 3-for-4 day with an RBI. DBU pounded out 15 hits, including a solo home run by Camden Duzenack.

Trosclair sparks Cajuns
LAFAYETTE, La. -- Stefan Trosclair hit a solo home run as part of a 2 for 3, three-RBI day and Louisiana Lafayette (43-19) beat Arizona (39-21) 10-3.
Kyle Clement and Brad Antchak both added a pair of hits as ULL victimized Arizona starter JC Cloney for six earned runs on seven hits and two walks over 32/3 innings. ULL generated three runs in the first inning on two hits, a walk, a sacrifice and fielding error to set the tone.

Linck leads La. Tech
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Cameron Linck pitched six solid innings to help Louisiana Tech (42-19) beat Cal State Fullerton (36-23) 6-2 in an elimination game.
TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL
South Ala. uses big inning
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A six-run sixth inning allowed South Alabama to stay alive in the Tallahassee Regional as it ousted Southern Mississippi (41-20) 7-5.
The Jaguars (42-21) trailed 4-0 going into the sixth before they rallied. Cole Billingsley had the game-winning hit with a two out, two-run single.
RALEIGH REGIONAL
N.C. State clocks Navy
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Chance Shepard hit a three-run home run to highlight an early burst that helped North Carolina State beat Navy (43-16-1) 17-1.
Joe Dunand and Andrew Knizner both added solo home runs in the fourth for the top-seeded Wolfpack (37-21), who led 10-0 by the fourth inning. Shepard drove in five RBI.
BATON ROUGE REGIONAL
Rice breaks out
BATON ROUGE -- Blake Fox gave up one earned run over six innings and Rice busted open a close game late to knock off Southeastern Louisiana 7-2.
Fox gave up 3 hits and 4 walks with 4 strikeouts for the victory.
LOUISVILLE REGIONAL
Buckeyes headed home
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- J.D. Orr went 3 for 4, Gabe Snyder hit a home run and Wright State eliminated Ohio State with a 7-3 victory.
Caleb Sampen and Zane Collins combined to allow five hits and a walk as the third-seeded Raiders (46-16) reached Sunday's regional final against top-seeded Louisville. Ronnie Dawson had two hits for second-seeded Ohio State (44-20), which was outscored 22-6 in its final two games.
