Questions remain in accidental death

The body of a 29-year-old woman was discovered Sunday in a vacant house near Compton.

The death of Chelsea Pazera appears to have been accidental, said Newton County Sheriff Keith Slape.

The sheriff wouldn't give an apparent cause of death, pending the outcome of the investigation. He said Pazera lived in the area, but she died after entering an unoccupied house that was under contract to be sold to a Harrison resident who was on vacation in Texas.

"We're just trying to figure out why she wanted to gain entry to the house," Slape said.

Pazera's vehicle was parked at the unoccupied house. A caretaker went in to check on the house after spotting a broken window, Slape said. That's when Pazera's body was discovered in the basement. Slape said Pazera might have died two days earlier.

Pazera's body was sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
