Arkansas man, 24, gets life term for aggravated robbery of discount store

A Crittenden County man with previous convictions has been sentenced to life in prison for robbing a Marion discount store last year at gunpoint, Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington said.

After a three-day trial, Roosevelt Rashun Coleman, 24, was found guilty by a jury Wednesday of robbing the Dollar General on the Interstate 55 Service Road about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 14, 2015, according to a news release.

Crittenden County Circuit Judge Ralph Wilson sentenced Coleman, who was previously convicted twice of residential burglary, to life in the Arkansas Department of Correction on one count of aggravated robbery, Ellington said.

Ellington said Coleman demanded money from the discount store's assistant manager, who complied but was significantly injured after he pushed her into the register and later struck her head with the butt end of the gun.
