LITTLE ROCK — Former President Bill Clinton is headlining a Democratic Party fundraiser named for Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson in his home state before the event sheds the names of the two slave-owning presidents.

The Arkansas Democratic Party said Thursday that Clinton will speak at the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on July 15 in North Little Rock. The party's chairman last week announced this year's fundraiser will be the last to include the late presidents' names. A nine-member panel will recommend a new name to the party's executive committee early next year.

This will be the second year in a row a Clinton has headlined the fundraiser. The ex-president's wife, former secretary of state and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, spoke at the dinner last year.
