Kipper (7-0) carries Travs

Jordan Kipper allowed two hits in seven innings and the Arkansas Travelers got home runs from Eric Aguilera and Jabari Henry in a 6-0 victory over the Springfield Cardinals on Wednesday night at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo.

Arkansas scored four times in the first when Aguilera drove in Caleb Adams with a single for the initial run. Adams had singled to lead off the game and Cal Towey followed with a walk. After a fly out, Henry hit his third home run of the season over the left-field fence off Springfield's Trey Nielsen (5-5) to score Towey and Aguilera to give the Travelers a 4-0 lead.

The two teams could not push another run across until the top of the eighth when Adams singled with one out, then scored on Aguilera's seventh home run of the season off Springfield reliever J.C. Sulbaran.

The Travs had 9 hits on the night with Adams leading the way with 3 in 4 at-bats. Aguilera and Henry were each 2 for 4 with 3 RBI.

Kipper (7-0) allowed a Bruce Caldwell single in the fourth inning and a Mason Katz double in the fifth before turning the game over to the bullpen in the eighth. Kipper finished with five strikeouts and allowed one walk.

Alan Busenitz allowed the Cardinals last hit in the eighth inning before DJ Johnson and Tyler DeLoach split the ninth to complete the shutout.
