Outfielder Ryan Scott capped his UALR career by being named the Sun Belt Conference player of the year and a first-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

Now Scott knows for which organization he'll be playing next. Scott, a North Little Rock graduate, was picked in the seventh round, No. 208 overall, by the Boston Red Sox on the second day of the MLB first-year player draft. It's the second highest a UALR player has been chosen, and the highest since Rick Guarno went in the fourth round to the Colorado Rockies in 2003.

"It's just a blessing to be picked," said Scott, who followed Friday's selections from his apartment with his parents and his fiancee.

Scott is currently the Division I leader with a .435 batting average, and he also broke UALR's single-season record for hits (94), RBI (66) and total bases (154). The Trojans have had a player drafted in each of the last four seasons.
