Forecasters: Storms, high temperatures part of hazardous weather outlook for most of state

Thunderstorms and lighting in store for Monday night will likely lead to sweltering temperatures that could spark more storms in Arkansas this week, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for most of the state early Monday, saying storms later in the evening could produce cloud-to-ground lighting and flash flooding.

After the storms move out of the state, the weather service predicts temperatures to rise throughout the week into the 90s, with heat indices reaching the 100s.

Those high temperatures are likely to trigger a heat advisory from the weather service and could also produce isolated storms, forecasters wrote.

No widespread storms were expected through this weekend, according to the weather service.
