Shooting at Arkansas mosque leaves 1 man wounded

FORREST CITY — Police in Forrest City say a man was wounded in a shooting at a mosque in the east Arkansas city.

The Times-Herald reported Monday that a 43-year-old man was a bystander who was injured Friday night.

Police say the shooting occurred during a meeting that was called to try and settle and undisclosed dispute between two families.

Police say the two families began to argue and one man pulled a gun and fired three shots — hitting the bystander, who was described as having no role in the meeting. The victim was taken to a hospital in good condition.

The suspect was subdued by others in the room and was arrested for first-degree battery. Court records do not show that formal charges have been filed.
