Three people arrested after a high-speed police chase in Saline County last week are being held for questioning in a home invasion in another Arkansas county, according to police.

Those arrested — David Paul Burkhart, 33, of Hot Springs; Scotty Holbert, 36, of DeWitt; and Michael Anneeason Ngo, 29, of DeWitt — each remained at the Saline County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond as of Tuesday afternoon, records show.

Each face drug-related charges as well as charges of theft by receiving, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a firearm by a certain person after the pursuit, according to police.

In a news release, the Benton Police Department said officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop for seat belt violations on a maroon Chevrolet S-10 traveling westbound on Interstate 30 at 6:42 p.m. Thursday.

The pickup’s driver fled about three minutes later, traveling at speeds of up to 80 mph on U.S. 70, Arkansas 128 and Arkansas 5.

Police said that at one point during the pursuit, the pickup’s “hood blew up and blocked the windshield,” but the driver kept traveling.

Arkansas State Police later joined the chase before the pickup crashed into a ditch on Arkansas 5 near Rockdale Road, according to authorities.

It was not immediately clear who was driving the vehicle at the time of the pursuit.

During a search of the pickup, 29 grams of suspected methamphetamine, three syringes, a digital scale and a .22 rifle were found, as well as a 20-gauge shotgun reported stolen out of Arkansas County and a laptop believed to be stolen in Beebe, according to the release.

While speaking with the Arkansas County sheriff's office regarding the stolen gun, police said they learned that the three arrested in Saline County matched the descriptions of people sought in a home invasion. Details regarding the home invasion were not available Tuesday afternoon from the sheriff’s office.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Benton Police Department at (501) 778-1171 or (501) 315-TIPS.
