Police confiscate 25 dogs in dog-fighting investigation

WESTLAND, Mich. — Police say they've confiscated 25 dogs and arrested five people in an investigation into dog-fighting in two Detroit suburbs.

The Detroit News and WWJ-AM reported raids took place Thursday at homes in Westland and Inkster.

Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said investigators also seized $25,000 in cash that's believed to be from dog-fighting proceeds, dog-fighting equipment and drugs including crack, cocaine and heroin. He said the dogs are in good condition and getting care.

No charges have been filed.
