Pulaski Academy won the Shootout of the South 7-on-7 tournament Saturday with a 64-56 victory over Allen, Texas, at the Mighty Bluebird Complex in Little Rock.
It was Pulaski Academy’s seventh consecutive Shootout title. The Bruins, led by Coach Kevin Kelley and junior quarterback Layne Hatcher, are the two-time defending Class 5A state champions.
Pulaski Academy defeated Fayetteville 42-41 and Central Arkansas Christian 42-35 in the championship round to reach the final. They went 5-0 Saturday, also defeating Springdale and Glendale, Mo., junior varsity in one of four regional brackets.
North Little Rock defeated Monticello 29-28 in the consolation bracket final.
