Springdale police responded to a house in the 1000 block of Joye Street about 2 a.m. after a domestic disturbance complaint, the news release said.

Brown, armed with a rifle, confronted officer Cody Combs after he entered the home, police said.

"Officer Combs ordered Mr. Brown to drop the rifle, and when Mr. Brown refused Officer Combs shot Mr. Brown with his issued pistol," the release stated.

Brown was taken to the hospital to be treated for "gunshot wounds," the release said.
