A Cabot man booked into the Lonoke County jail this weekend will face additional charges after trying to escape by climbing through the ceiling Monday, the sheriff's office says.

Sheriff's spokesman Lt. David Bufford said Jeffrey Lefevre, whom he described as a small man, was able to slip out of his handcuffs inside the intake area at 11:02 a.m.

Jail officers noticed about a minute later and set up a perimeter around the jail. Following a trail of blood drops in the ceiling, they found Lefevre hiding above the office area about 40 minutes later, Bufford said.

Lefevre cut himself while climbing, Bufford said, and "was playing like he had a seizure when we found him."

An ambulance was called, but Lefevre was treated at the scene, Bufford said.

Lefevre, 31, was originally booked on burglary, obstructing government operations and drug charges and on failure to appear warrants.

Bufford said the sheriff's office plans to add escape and criminal mischief charges.
