A Blytheville man accused of setting fire to his ex-girlfriend over the weekend is expected to face amended charges after she died of related injuries Friday.

As of Friday, Kordarro Woodard, 25, had not appeared in Mississippi County Circuit Court for a first appearance on initial charges of attempted murder, domestic battery and violation of a no-contact order, Blytheville police Capt. Scott Adams said.

Martha George, 37, was listed in critical condition earlier this week at the Regional One Burn Unit in Memphis, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.

She was found by authorities Sunday with burns on 80 percent of her body after police said they heard screams and smoke coming from a home at 624 E. Cherry St. in Blytheville.

In a statement Friday afternoon, police said George was pronounced dead around 1:15 p.m. at the Memphis hospital. Her body will be sent to the state Crime Laboratory for a cause of death, according to authorities.

"We will be speaking with the prosecutor's office regarding our next steps," Adams said of Woodard's charges.

Woodard was being held at the Mississippi County jail in Luxora in lieu of $150,000 bond, records show.
