Arkansas man convicted of manslaughter in roommate's death

BLYTHEVILLE — A jury in Blytheville has convicted a man of manslaughter in last year's shooting death of his roommate.

Charles Campbell Jr. was charged with first-degree murder in the February 2015 death of Rodney Lutes. The Blytheville Courier News reports that jurors opted for the lesser charge of manslaughter when they handed down their verdict Thursday.

Campbell was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Police say Lutes was fatally shot in the neck and that Campbell was attempting CPR on his roommate when officers arrived.
