Environmental agency exec goes to AG

An Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality deputy director has accepted a position in Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge's office as a s̶e̶n̶i̶o̶r̶ ̶a̶d̶v̶i̶s̶e̶r̶ an assistant attorney general in the medicaid fraud control unit*.

Tammy Harrelson, a deputy director who oversaw the newly created office of land resources, is an attorney who has worked for the state since 2005.

Department Director Becky Keogh said Friday that Harrelson will be replaced July 11 by Tori Gordon. Gordon currently works as a policy adviser for Gov. Asa Hutchinson, specializing in environmental, energy, utility and transportation policy.

Gordon is also an attorney who graduated from Georgetown Law School in 2009 and worked in environmental law for just over two years at a firm in Washington, D.C.

Harrelson earned $106,918.88 annually at the department. How much she would earn at the attorney general's office was unknown Friday.

Gordon earns $63,100.13 in the governor's office and her salary at the Department of Environmental Quality has not been determined yet, department spokesman Kelly Robinson said.
