Area contestants to compete in Miss Arkansas Pageant

Several young women with ties to the River Valley & Ozark Edition’s coverage area will compete in the annual Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant July 3-9 at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena in the Hot Springs Convention Center. Contestants will arrive during a public ceremony at 2 p.m. July 3 in Horner Hall at the convention center.

Preliminary competitions will be held at 7 p.m. July 6-8 with the final competition and crowning set to begin at 7 p.m. July 9. Doors open at 6.

Preliminary awards will be made in artistic expression (talent), lifestyle and fitness (swimsuit) and presence and poise (evening gown).

Miss Arkansas River

Isabella Catron of Van Buren, is the 19-year-old daughter of Dr. Kyle and Melissa Catron.

She will present a tap dance to “Proud Mary” for her talent, and her platform is “The Greatest Wealth is Health.”

A sophomore majoring in communication sciences and disorders/speech pathology at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, she will compete in interview on the evening on July 5, lifestyle and fitness on July 6, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 7 and artistic expression on July 8.

Miss Arkansas Tech University

Carly Copeland of Clarksville, is the 19-year-old daughter of Jody and Donna Copeland.

She will present a vocal rendition of “Ain’t No Sunshine” for her talent, and her platform is “Mentoring Matters: Make a Difference.”

A sophomore majoring in elementary education at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, she will compete in interview on the evening of July 5, lifestyle and fitness on July 6, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 7 and artistic expression on July 8.

Miss Central Arkansas

Caitlyn Cook of Conway, is the 23-year-old daughter of Dr. Joseph and Mary Cook.

She will present a vocal rendition of “And This is My Beloved” as her talent, and her platform is “Staying Alive: Be Red Cross Ready.”

A senior marketing major at UCA, she will compete in interview on July 5, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 6, artistic expression on July 7 and lifestyle and fitness on July 8.

Miss Conway

Catherine Elisabeth Coleman, is the 18-year-old daughter of Jeanna Coleman and Charles Coleman.

She will present a lyrical jazz interpretation of “Something in the Water” as her talent, and her platform is “Building a Healthy Community: One Step at a Time.”

A freshman majoring in early childhood education at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, she will compete in interview on July 5, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 6, artistic expression on July 7 and lifestyle and fitness on July 8.

Miss Diamond Lakes

Carleigh Tackett of Russellville, is the 18-year-old daughter of Butch and Toni Tackett.

She will perform a jazz dance to “Raise You Up” as her talent, and her platform is “Digital Responsibility.”

A freshman majoring in broadcast journalism at Arkansas Tech, she will compete in interview on July 5, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 6, artistic expression on July 7 and lifestyle and fitness on July 8.

Miss Greater Jacksonville

Kelli Collins of Dardanelle, is the 19-year-old daughter of Jackie and Debbie Collins.

She will perform a vocal rendition of “The Impossible Dream” as her talent, and her platform is “Make-A-Wish.”

A sophomore biology major at UCA, she will compete in interview on the evening of July 5, lifestyle and fitness on July 6, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 7 and artistic expression on July 8.

Miss Greater Jonesboro

Jade Collins of Hector, is the 20-year-old daughter of Brant Collins and Lorrie Ellis.

She will present a vocal rendition of “I Who Have Nothing” as her talent, and her platform is “Live the United Way.”

A senior majoring in strategic communications at ASU, she will compete in interview on July 4, artistic expression on July 6, lifestyle and fitness on July 7 and presence and poise/on-stage question on July 8.

Miss Greater Little Rock

Haven Brock of Haskell, is the 21-year-old daughter of Casson and Eric Brock.

She will present a vocal rendition of “Don’t Rain on my Parade” as her talent, and her platform is “Carson’s Kids: Embracing Autism.”

A senior majoring in early childhood education at Arkansas Tech, she will compete in interview on July 4, artistic expression on July 6, lifestyle and fitness on July 7 and presence and poise/on-stage question on July 8.

Miss Johnson County

Hannah Jo Hatchett of Clarksville, is the 19-year-old daughter of Mark and Barbara Hatchett.

She will perform a vocal and jazz dance to “Dear Future Husband” as her talent, and her platform is “BABY Steps: Build a Better You.”

A sophomore majoring in nursing at Arkansas Tech, she will compete in interview on July 4, artistic expression on July 6, lifestyle and fitness on July 7 and presence and poise/on-stage question on July 8.

Miss Lake Dardanelle

Alexis Sanders of Conway, is the 20-year-old daughter of Roosevelt and Vernetta Sanders.

She will present a flute interpretation of “Sing, Sing, Sing” as her talent, and her platform is “All Hands Down: Volunteer.”

A junior majoring in health education/pre-pharmacy at UCA, she will compete in interview on July 5, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 6, artistic expression on July 7 and lifestyle and fitness on July 8.

Miss Natural State

Kelsey Theall of Vilonia, is the 23-year-old daughter of Jay and Cheryl Theall.

She will perform an Irish dance to “Lord of the Dance” as her talent, and her platform is “Focus on the Children … Improving Literacy.”

A graduate of UCA with a degree in nursing, she will compete in interview on July 4, artistic expression on July 6, lifestyle and fitness on July 7 and presence and poise/on-stage question on July 8.

Miss Ouachita River

Samantha Hudon of Hot Springs, is the 24-year-old daughter of Jon and Chris Hudon.

She will present a vocal rendition of “California Dreaming” for talent, and her platform is “Get Up! Get Moving! Encouraging a More Physically Active Lifestyle.”

She is a 2015 graduate of UCA with a degree in broadcast journalism. She will compete in interview on the evening of July 5, lifestyle and fitness on July 6, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 7 and artistic expression on July 8.

Miss Ozark Highlands

Brooklyn Woodworth of Harrison, is the 19-year-old daughter of Shawn and Dana Stark.

She will perform “Piano Fantasy” on the piano as her talent, and her platform is “Gluten Free is the Key.”

A sophomore majoring in biomedical biology/pre-dental at Arkansas Tech, she will compete in interview on the evening of July 5, lifestyle and fitness on July 6, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 7 and artistic expression on July 8.

Miss Ozark Mountain

McCartney Drouin of Mountain View, is the 19-year-old daughter of Mark and Ilona Drouin.

She will present a vocal rendition of “Feeling Good” as her talent, and her platform is “Make a Wish: Change a Life.”

A junior majoring in occupational therapy at Arkansas Tech, she will compete in interview on the evening of July 5, lifestyle and fitness on July 6, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 7 and artistic expression on July 8.

Miss Sweetheart of Arkansas

Jennifer Nottenkamper of Fayetteville, is the 24-year-old daughter of Bill and Cindy Nottenkamper.

She will perform a baton-twirling routine to “Barcelona” as her talent, and her platform is “Domestic Violence: The Hidden Hurt.”

A 2013 graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and a 2015 graduate of UCA, she is in her second year of graduate school at the U of A where she is majoring in community health promotion. She will compete in interview on the evening of July 5, lifestyle and fitness on July 6, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 7 and artistic expression on July 8.

Miss University of Central Arkansas

Ashton Skyler Purtle of Russellville, is the 20-year-old daughter of Steve and Michele Purtle.

She will perform a lyrical dance to “Listen” as her talent, and her platform is “HALO: Healthy Active Lifestyle Options.”

A junior biology/pre-med major at UCA, she will compete in interview on July 4, artistic expression on July 6, lifestyle and fitness on July 7 and presence and poise/on-stage question on July 8.

Miss Western Arkansas

Logan Moore of Van Buren, is the 21-year-old daughter of Zane and Laura Moore.

She will perform “Patriotic Medley” on the flute as her talent, and her platform is “Food for All.”

A senior nursing major at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, she will compete in interview on July 4, artistic expression on July 6, lifestyle and fitness on July 7 and presence and poise/on-stage question on July 8.

Miss White River

Alyson Tyler of Rogers, is the 22-year-old daughter of Andy and Diana Woller.

She will present a vocal rendition of “Almost There,” and her platform is “Empowering Musical Minds.”

A senior accounting major at UCA, she will compete in interview on the evening of July 5, lifestyle and fitness on July 6, presence and poise/on-stage question on July 7 and artistic expression on July 8.

Season ticket passes for the Miss Arkansas pageant are $87. Tickets for preliminary nights are $22 each and, for the crowning night, $32 each. All prices include a $2 facility fee.
