Bluegrass Monday

High Fidelity -- Kurt Stephenson, banjo and vocals; Corrina Rose Logston, fiddle and harmony vocals; Jeremy Stephens, guitarist and lead vocalist; and Vickie Vaughn, bass -- performs for Jonesboro public radio station KASU-FM, 91.9's Bluegrass Monday series, 7 p.m. Monday at the Collins Theatre, 120 W. Nominations open

Deadline is Aug. 5 to nominate Arkansas artists, arts patrons and corporations for the Arkansas Arts Council's 2017 Governor's Arts Awards, which recognize outstanding contributions to the arts community. Nominees must be current Arkansas residents or Arkansas-based corporations. Awards are in seven categories: Arts Community Development, Arts in Education, Corporate Sponsorship of the Arts, Individual Artist, Folklife, Patron and Lifetime Achievement. Operatic auditions

Opera in the Rock will hold auditions for its 2016-17 season, by appointment only, 2-5 p.m. July 9 at Pulaski Technical College's Center for Humanities and Arts, 3000 W. Scenic Drive, North Little Rock. Auditioners need to prepare four arias (at least one in English and one in Italian) that best represent them. An accompanist is available; there is a $15 fee.

The season consists of two one-act operas, Bonnie Montgomery's Billy Blythe and Richard Wargo's The Music Shop, Sept. 16-17, and Gioacchino Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) in May (dates to be announced), plus outreach performances and fundraisers. Dance workshop

Deadline is July 4 to sign up for New Creation Dance Company's Summer Workshop, July 18-21 at Irby Dance Studio, 2324 Durwood Road, Little Rock. The sessions -- for ages 3-5, 9-11 a.m., $100; age 6-adult, 9 a.m.-noon, $130 -- feature instruction in ballet, contemporary, worship, hip-hop and jazz from the company members, plus games and crafts; it all culminates in an end-of-week performance.
