Work set for I-40 in Pulaski County

Asphalt replacement on existing eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 in Pulaski County will continue to require daily lane closures for four nights beginning today, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The work will reduce eastbound I-40 traffic to one lane between Crystal Hill Road in North Little Rock and Arkansas 365 at Morgan from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night through Thursday, weather permitting.

The lane closures will allow the contractor to replace existing asphalt surface in the center and right lanes, the department said. Traffic will be controlled using barrels, electronic message boards and advance warning signs.

The work is part of a $38.4 million project to widen a 5.1-mile section of I-40 between Interstate 430 and Arkansas 365 to six lanes. The project is expected to be completed later this year, the department said.
