Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta came out on the losing end of a bet with teammate Tommy La Stella over the College World Series, and as a result, has to get a tattoo of CCU (Coastal Carolina University) on him.

According to ESPN.com's Jesse Rogers, Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta has an errand to run when the Cubs get back to the Windy City after their current road trip.

Arrieta, reigning National League Cy Young winner, will have to visit a tattoo artist after losing a bet to teammate Tommy La Stella over the College World Series.

Coastal Carolina eliminated TCU from the tournament Saturday, beating the Horned Frogs on back-to-back days. La Stella is a Coastal Carolina alumnus; Arrieta attended TCU. The two victories propelled the Chanticleers to the CWS finals.

"So happy for those kids," La Stella said Sunday. "When we get back to Chicago we'll get him [Arrieta] tatted up for life."

The loser of the bet had to get a tattoo of the winner's school, so Arrieta will have CCU emblazoned on him.

La Stella was asked if they will record the tattooing.

"If it's a body part that's visually acceptable, absolutely," La Stella said laughing.

When Arrieta arrived at Marlins Park, where the Cubs played the Miami Marlins on Sunday, there was a Coastal Carolina placard taped to his locker stall. He quickly removed it.

Coastal Carolina eliminated TCU on Saturday, but the Horned Frogs beat the Chanticleers once earlier in the week. The two had a bet on that game as well, and La Stella will have to dress up as a Horned Frogs mascot, Arrieta said.

Coastal Carolina will take on Arizona in the best-of-three finals beginning tonight. La Stella will begin a Class AAA rehab assignment today with Iowa as he recovers from a right hamstring injury.

"I'll be checking in as often as I can," La Stella said.

Golden find

Atlanta resident Wayne Smith and his daughter, Chloe, were on a walk Friday when they spotted something unusual in a lump of roadside trash.

Intermingled with old sneakers and wood scraps, Chloe found a gold medal from the 1992 games in Barcelona.

"When she picked it up it just wowed me. I had to look at it for 20 minutes before it sunk in," Wayne Smith told WTVM-TV in Atlanta.

The piece of Olympic history belonged to Joe Jacobi. He had won the medal as a slalom canoeist in the 1992 games, but had it stolen about two weeks ago. Jacobi was eating at a local restaurant while traveling when his car was broken into and a number of items were taken, among them his gold medal.

Some of the items were later recovered at an apartment complex, but the medal was still missing until Chloe's lucky find. Being 6, she didn't have much of an understanding of what it was. According to her father, at one point, she tossed it like Frisbee. But her father investigated the newfound toy and immediately contacted Jacobi.

"The part of the medal the family found identifies the 1992 Olympic games. It has Nike, the Greek goddess of victory on it. It's the most distinguishing part of the medal," Jacobi said to WTVM.

As for the Smith family, they got a couple of good things out of the situation. First, Jacobi rushed down to Atlanta from his Tennessee home to thank the family and deliver a $500 reward. And the gold-medal-winner also promised that when school was back in session, he'd visit Chloe's school to show off the piece of the medal the 6-year-old found.

Jacobi has always carried the priceless item with him and he plans to keep doing so now that it he has it back in his possession.

"We get to take the medal and move forward and do what we've always done with it -- share it with people," he said to WSB. "And it has a new story to add to the old one."
