CINCINNATI -- A large contingent of Chicago Cubs fans in the stands at Great American Ball Park wanted Kris Bryant to take a curtain call when he reached the dugout after hitting his third home run of the night. A few teammates wanted him to take a bow, too.

He did not, and it was about the only thing Chicago's top hitter didn't do Monday.

Bryant became the first major leaguer to hit three home runs and two doubles in a game, and Jake Arrieta (12-2) added a home run in the ballpark where he threw a no-hitter in April, setting up an 11-8 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night.

The Cubs came into Cincinnati having lost six of seven.

"The last couple of weeks haven't been what I've wanted, so I figured I'm due," said Bryant, who has 21 home runs and 57 RBI for the season.

Arrieta struggled in his return to Cincinnati, giving up a season-high five runs in five innings, but Bryant drove in six runs, as he did the night of Arrieta's no-hitter, to help the right-hander pull through. Bryant's 16 total bases were a Cubs record, and his five hits marked a career high.

Bryant doubled home a run in the first, hit a home run with nobody on in the third and added a three-run home run deep into the upper deck in left field in the fourth off Dan Straily (4-5). His solo shot in the eighth came off Ross Ohlendorf, who also gave up a home run to Anthony Rizzo.

Many of the 31,762 fans wore Cubs blue and wanted Bryant to come out of the dugout after his third home run. Bryant wouldn't oblige, considering it inappropriate on the road.

"He enjoys the moment, but he doesn't go over the top with it," Chicago manager Joe Maddon said. "He's very old school. He doesn't spike the ball in the end zone. He just lays it down or hands it to the official."

INTERLEAGUE

INDIANS 8, BRAVES 3 Lonnie Chisenhall hit a three-run home run, Trevor Bauer (6-2) gave up two runs in six innings and visiting Cleveland beat Atlanta for its 10th consecutive victory, extending the longest winning streak in the major leagues this season. Chisenhall homered in the fourth off Tyrell Jenkins (0-1). He relieved Braves rookie John Gant, who left in the third with a left oblique strain.

ROCKIES 9, BLUE JAYS 5 Carlos Gonzalez hit a three-run home run, Jon Gray (5-3) pitched seven solid innings and the host Rockies beat Toronto to spoil Troy Tulowitzki's return to Colorado. Tulowitzki went 0 for 4 in his first game at Coors Field since Toronto acquired him from the Rockies last July 27. He received a standing ovation when he batted in the second inning. He stepped out of the batter's box and doffed his helmet to the 36,491 fans. Edwin Encarnacion hit two home runs for the Blue Jays. Colorado rallied for six runs in the seventh off three relievers.

ROYALS 6, CARDINALS 2 Danny Duffy struck out eight batters in eighth innings, and host Kansas City defeated St. Louis to open a four-game, two-city series between cross-state rivals. Kendrys Morales went 4 for 4 and drove in two runs, and Eric Hosmer also had two RBI as the Royals roughed up Adam Wainwright (6-5) to snap a four-game losing streak to the Cardinals. Duffy (3-1) yielded a two-run home run to Matt Holliday in the first before settling in.

DODGERS 5, PIRATES 4 A.J. Ellis hit a tiebreaking, two-out infield single that capped a four-run fifth inning, and visiting Los Angeles rallied past Pittsburgh to salvage the finale of a four-game series. Scott Kazmir (6-3) won despite allowing 4 runs, 4 hits and 4 walks in five innings. Kenley Jansen got four outs for his 22nd save in 25 chances.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

RAYS 13, RED SOX 7 Nick Franklin hit a home run and drove in a career-high five runs to help host Tampa Bay end an 11-game losing streak with a victory over Boston.
