Homeless man’s backpack stolen at gunpoint in downtown Little Rock

A homeless man was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday in downtown Little Rock, police reported.

George McCarthy, 45, told police he was walking in the 500 block of Capitol Avenue when a black sport utility pulled up about 2:15 a.m., according to a police report. Two teenage boys got out of the vehicle, pointed handguns at Mc-Carthy and stole McCarthy’s backpack.

No injuries were reported.

Police searched the area but made no arrests.

The robbers are both described as black and between the ages of 16 and 18. One of them was about 5-foot-3 and 100 pounds, and wore bluejeans and a blue shirt. The other appeared to be the same height, but slightly heavier.
