Authorities on Wednesday identified the suspect in a hit-and-run crash in Little Rock that left an 8-year-old boy dead.

The Little Rock Police Department said Devonte Galmore, 24, surrendered about two hours after the crash, which happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at South Meadowcliff and Delore drives.

Pulaski County jail data showed Galmore was booked into the facility on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident. Bail was set at $2,500.

Galmore was no longer listed as an inmate Wednesday morning.

Police said the boy, whose name was not released, was struck by a gray Chevrolet Impala as he skateboarded down Delrose Drive. He was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital, where he died.

Court records show that Galmore was previously convicted of leaving the scene of an accident in March 2011, for which he was given a $250 fine. He also has previous traffic violations for careless driving, not obeying a stop or yield sign and failing to produce insurance.

Police said a woman in the vehicle, later identified as Fe’Gerra Stewart, got out to check on the boy but was ordered back in the car by the man, who then drove away, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported in Wednesday's editions.

Authorities said Wednesday that Stewart was interviewed and released without being charged.
