A Little Rock man was charged with capital murder Wednesday in the death of Alex Ward, who was one of three people killed on a single day nearly six months ago.

A Little Rock police spokesman said that Cherard Harriott, 26, surrendered after police developed him as a suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Harriott was also charged with firing a gun from inside a vehicle and with battery.

Ward was found shot in between two homes Jan. 21 and died at the scene. Witnesses told police they saw two vehicles fleeing the scene.

Arkansas Online reported earlier this year that Ward's death was one of a growing number of unsolved homicides in the city this year, even as the overall murder rate has remained similar to last year's.
