Police say an argument led to shooting; no arrest made

Little Rock police are investigating after a man was fatally shot Monday afternoon.

Officers responded at 3:18 p.m. to a house at 9700 Collie Drive, a residential area just north of Woodhaven Drive. They found a man who had been shot and was lying in the front yard under a tree. Police spokesman Lt. Steve McClanahan said the man was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock, where he was pronounced dead.

A police report identified the man as Marlon Walker, 3̶7̶ 36*, of Little Rock. His listed address is not the address where he was found shot Monday.

McClanahan said that, according to detectives, Walker was shot during a dispute with another man. Circumstances of the dispute were unclear.

"It was just an argument, and right now we still have some pieces we're trying to put together," he said.

The police report listed a College Station man known as "Tez" or "Cortez" as a suspect in the killing. A more detailed description was not available.

Residents watched from their front yards Monday as officers cordoned off the area with yellow police tape and placed evidence markers outside the home where Walker was shot. Police detectives could be seen going door-to-door and interviewing residents.

Several Woodhaven Drive residents said they heard gunfire before police arrived at the scene, but they declined to speak further to a reporter.

Walker's death is the 16th homicide of the year in Little Rock. According to Walker's Facebook page, he was the father of a young boy and worked as a foam operator at All Weather Insulated Wall Panels in Little Rock.

No arrests had been made in the killing late Tuesday.
