First Folio Friday at the Library

CONWAY — In celebration of the Shakespeare First Folio on display at the University of Central Arkansas, the Faulkner County Library will offer another family-friendly event. At 3 p.m. Walk Away With Your Own Folio, with Faulkner County Museum Director Lynita Langley Ware, will offer participants instruction in how to use found objects to create and decorate a small book. Twin Groves 25-year Anniversary Celebration

TWIN GROVES — The city of Twin Groves will celebrate its 25-year anniversary at the Twin Groves Community Center. Ceremonies will begin at 4 p.m. with a history of the community, recognition of community leaders and singing. Refreshments will be served at

5 p.m., and there will be fireworks at dark.

Fireworks Extravaganza

HEBER SPRINGS — The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce will present one of the larger fireworks displays in Arkansas over Greers Ferry Lake. All are invited to view the Fireworks Extravaganza on the shores of Sandy Beach in Heber Springs or by boat. There will be kids’ activities and food vendors, and live music will start at 7 p.m., followed by the fireworks display at 9:30 p.m., accompanied by choreographed music on KFFB 106.1 FM. Nepalese Cultural Event

CONWAY — Nepalese students from the University of Central Arkansas will present A Voyage to Nepal at 10 a.m. at the Faulkner County Library, 1900 Tyler St. Participants will learn about the Nepalese culture and take part in traditional Nepalese songs, dances and games. Maumelle Cardboard Boat Races

MAUMELLE — The Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce will present the third annual Cardboard Boat Races at 5:30 p.m. at Lake Willastein. Boat check-in will begin at 2 p.m., and the race will begin immediately after the parade. This year’s theme is American Heroes, and participants are encouraged to decorate their boats and attire. Teams will consist of two participants in each boat. All teams must have one participant 12 or older. Early-bird registration is $30 per team through Friday, then the cost will be $40 per team. Tea Party Luncheon

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Tea Party has a luncheon at noon every Thursday at Larry’s Pizza, 1068 Markham St. Guest speakers and the members’ “soap box” are featured each week. Anyone interested in governmental and business affairs on the county, state or national level is invited to arrive early, eat pizza and meet the group’s members.

Fishing Derby

CONWAY — The Conway Human Development Center Fishing Derby will begin at 7:30 a.m. July 30 at the CHDC Pond, 150 E. Siebenmorgen Road. Participants must be 12 years old or younger, or community individuals with developmental disabilities. Prizes will be awarded at 10:45 a.m. Anglers must bring fishing equipment, buckets and bait/supplies. Registration is $5 for the early-bird special, or $10, starting at 6:30 a.m. at the derby.
