Traffic stop yields arrest in Monday shooting death

Little Rock police arrested a murder suspect Wednesday after they found him hiding under a blanket in the back seat of a car during a traffic stop, police said.

Cortez Bone, 34, was arrested around 5 p.m. in the 4000 block of Frazier Pike in connection to the shooting death of 3̶7̶-̶y̶e̶a̶r̶-̶o̶l̶d̶ 36-year-old*Marlon Walker on Monday, said Lt. Steve McClanahan, spokesman for the Little Rock Police Department.

Officers responded to 9700 Collie Drive on Monday afternoon and found Walker, who had been shot, lying under a tree. He was later pronounced dead at Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock.

Bone was charged with first-degree murder and possession of firearms by certain persons, McClanahan said.

Police also arrested Bone's brother, Calvin Slay, who was driving the car during the traffic stop. He was charged with hindering apprehension and was listed on Pulaski County jail's inmate roster Wednesday night. Bone was also listed on the jail's inmate roster Wednesday night.

McClanahan said police think Slay was attempting to drive Bone to Dallas.
