AUDIO: KARK reporter pushed after Naramore hearing files complaint, director says

This article was published March 11, 2016 at 5:06 p.m.

A KARK-TV reporter filed a complaint Friday afternoon with the Hot Springs Police Department after being pushed to the ground in an elevator after a hearing earlier that morning in Garland County Circuit Court, the news director for the station said Friday evening.

Earlier Friday, news director Austin Kellerman said in an email: "After reviewing the footage and speaking with our journalists involved in the incident, we're currently in the process of filing a complaint. We don't have plans to file charges."

Reporter Marci Manley was knocked to the ground as supporters of suspended Garland County Circuit Court Judge Wade Naramore attempted to block journalists from reaching Naramore on the ground floor as he left the court, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.

Naramore was in court Friday morning pleading innocent to a misdemeanor in the hot-car death of his son.

To whom it may concern: please practice truthful reporting. Do not falsely incriminate someone who did nothing wrong to protect poor journalism. This case is truly tragic in a multitude of ways, and it has been reported on with malicious intent from the very beginning. Isn't it so much easier to extend Judge Naramore and his family some mercy and compassion during this truly horrific time for them? Wouldn't your story be so much better if you focused on the heartbreak this family and families like their's endure? Wouldn't the goals of journalism be better met if you ran stories on the studies being done about hot car deaths and what happens when these accidents occur? If you want a story people want to read, go for the science that explains why this happens, pour your time and energy into a story that will help other parents decrease the likelihood that this could happen to them, look into things the auto industry could and is doing to help prevent these accidents from happening to others. This is truly a tragedy that happened to Judge Naramore and his son; it was not a crime, it was not negligence; Judge Naramore did not "do," this to his son-!it was an agonizing accident that happened to them and what's so terrifying about this case is that it could so easily happen to me or to you. How insulting to baby Thomas to reduce his death to a lie that his father wanted this or that a reporter lied about what happened at his father's arraignment. Let's be humane- let's shelter one another in the things that are important to us all- love, grace, mercy, compassion, and forgiveness. Let's focus on stories that make a difference in the lives of others. Let's honor Thomas by extending love and mercy to the people who undoubtedly loved him the most- his parents.

As a product of the school of journalism, it's disgusting you keep that as the headline. That's sensationalism at it's finest. Listen to the tape.

If it had been someone other than a politician or an elected official they would have been arrested and in jail weeks ago....Yes it was terrible to what happened to the child. That does not lessen the fact it was a simple case of neglect and if the child had lived, he should have been taken away from the parents. You forget to get the milk out of the car but not your Child....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
