Wings Coffee Co. opens in Bentonville

The Wings Coffee Co. drive-through shop is now open at 3307 S.W. 14th St. in Bentonville.

Britt and Jessica Waters opened the business, which provides a drive-through stand offering a variety of specialty coffees, chai, smoothies and various coffee alternatives. Washington-based Dillanos Coffee Roasters is their primary coffee supplier.

Wings also has a walk-up window and patio seating. It is open from 5 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Trane plant earns state safety award

The Arkansas Department of Labor recognized leaders at the Fort Smith Trane commercial plant on March 4 for reaching two safety milestones.

The company's more than 200 employees surpassed 2 million hours without a lost day from work due to a work-related injury between Dec. 30, 2011 and Feb. 1. The award is on behalf of the Arkansas Department of Labor, the Arkansas Insurance Department and the Arkansas Workers' Compensation Commission.

Workers were also recognized for going one year without a recordable occupational health and safety injury. It met that milestone on Feb. 18.

The Fort Smith plant, at 9900 Aire Circle, has manufactured custom commercial air handlers and other Trane products for more than 25 years.

Pace Industries honored for safe work

Pace Industries' Harrison Division received a 3 Million Man Hour Safety Award. The manufacturer's 530 employees went without missing a day from work because of a work-related injury or illness between April 23, 2013 and Dec. 31, 2014.

The recognition is from the Arkansas Department of Labor, the Arkansas Insurance Department and the Arkansas Workers' Compensation Commission.

The Harrison Division, at 513 U.S. 62, makes thin-wall die casting and traditional die casting applications. The factory has 600,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space.

Peers laud Weichert, Realtors for sales

Leading Real Estate Companies of the World recognized Weichert, Realtors - The Griffin Company for providing its members the most sales leads that turned in real estate transactions that closed in 2015.

LeadingRE is a network of locally branded firms that produce more than one million annual home sale transactions. Weichert, Realtors is a Bentonville-based firm.

The local real estate company exceeded its yearly goal for outgoing referrals by 8 percent and received the award during LeadingRE's annual conference held Feb. 20-26 in Miami.

Weichert, Realtors - The Griffin Company is an independently owned and operated Weichert-affiliated office serving Northwest Arkansas, northeast Oklahoma and southwest Missouri.

Rogers-Lowell Chamber rated as 5-star

The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce achieved 5-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. This is the highest level of accreditation awarded to chambers of commerce nationwide and places it in the top 1 percent.

Accreditation status is awarded for sound policies, effective organizational procedures and positive impact on the community.

Chambers are rated Accredited or Accredited with 3, 4 or 5 stars and are required to re-accredit every five years. This is the sixth time that the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce has been accredited.

UAMS West breaks ground in Fort Smith

Officials broke ground March 3 on the $10.5 million University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences' Family Medical Center West in Fort Smith.

The 30,000-square-foot medical center is at the corner of South 12th and South E streets, one block from the current building at 612 S. 12th St. It will provide patients, residents and staff with a state-of-the-art outpatient clinic, which includes 48 exam rooms, X-ray facilities, a laboratory, procedure areas, patient counseling rooms and a children's immunization area.

The Fort Smith Family Medical Center will be located three blocks from Sparks Regional Medical Center, the teaching hospital affiliated with the medical school.

Construction is scheduled to be complete in 10 months.
