Sunday night tornado total is 10 with 1 in Cross County

An EF1 tornado that left a nearly 2-mile path through Cross County on Sunday was the 10th that touched down in a series of storms that swept across the state, the National Weather Service confirmed Thursday.

The weather service's North Little Rock office said the tornado touched down east of Arkansas 75 around 9:10 p.m. Sunday, causing damage to the roof of a house and outbuilding.

The funnel then moved northeast, where it damaged farm equipment, an airport hangar and ripped the door off of a barn, the weather service said. Weather service surveyors estimated it took the storm five minutes to move along its 1.97-mile path.

According to the enhanced Fujita scale, which ranks tornadoes from EF0 to EF5, an EF0 tornado has maximum wind speeds between 65 and 85 mph and an EF1 has speeds of between 86 and 110 mph.

On Tuesday, the weather service reported seven tornadoes across the state, all either EF0 or EF1.

The National Weather Service added two more EF0 tornadoes Thursday. One traveled 1.3 miles through Bayou Meto in Arkansas County, where it was photographed but caused no damage. The other tornado struck Wye Mountain in Perry County, damaging trees and a roof along a 1.7-mile path.

No injuries were reported.
