A Dollar General store customer helped employees detain a robber until Little Rock police arrived Sunday, police reported.

Officers responded at 1:53 p.m. to the business at 2415 S. Broadway. Employees said they locked the doors after a man took about $45 in merchandise and tried to flee, according to a police report. The robber claimed to have a gun and threatened employees, saying, "Don't make me do something I might regret."

He attacked a cashier, Naquajha Harmon, 21, after she refused to open the doors, according to the report. A bystander, Jeremy Stuart, 25, of Redfield, then pulled the robber off Harmon and held him on the floor until police arrived.

No injuries were reported.

James Benard Brown, 31, was charged with aggravated robbery, theft of property and possessing instruments of crime. Police said they found a crack pipe in Brown's possession, but no gun.

Officers also arrested Harmon's boyfriend at the business.

Semaj Thompson, 21, reportedly showed up after the robbery and said he wanted to fight Brown for attacking his girlfriend. Thompson, who had been on probation, "refused to calm down or leave the business," the report states. He was charged with disorderly conduct.

Brown and Thompson were both being held in the Pulaski County jail Monday.
