2 women, 1 man die in 3 wrecks, police say

Two women and a man were killed in three separate vehicle accidents in the state Thursday and Friday, according to the Arkansas State Police.

At 8:38 a.m. Thursday, Margaret Isaac, 95, of Mena was killed and Patricia White, 72, of Mena was injured in a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of U.S. 71 and Johnson Creek Road in Mena.

White was traveling north on U.S. 71 when she ran off the road. She overcompensated when she attempted to get back on the road, crossed the centerline and landed in a ditch on the other side of the highway.

White was taken to Mena Regional Health System for unspecified injuries.

Conditions at the time of the crash were cloudy, but the road was dry, according to the report.

About 4 p.m. Thursday, Billie Jo Horn, 43, of Horseshoe Bend was killed when she crossed the centerline as she was northbound on U.S. 167 north of Cave City and hit a 2002 Dodge Durango head on, according to a state police report.

The driver of the Dodge, Virginia Weathers, 59, of Thayer, Mo., as well as three children of unspecified ages were injured in the crash. They were taken to White River Medical Center in Batesville and Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

Travel conditions at the time of the crash were described as clear and dry.

A 21-year-old Ashdown man was killed at 5:54 a.m. Friday after losing control of his car on northbound U.S. 71 near Texarkana.

Weather conditions were foggy when Matthew Harris' 1996 Toyota Camry left the roadway and overturned. Harris, who was ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by Miller County Coroner Joshua Hawkins.
