Hot Springs blaze leaves 30 homeless

A Hot Springs apartment fire destroyed a building and displaced an estimated 30 tenants Sunday morning, according to the Garland County Department of Emergency Management.

Building J of the Forrest Hill Apartments, 201 S. Rogers Road, caught fire about 11:45 a.m. Easter morning, and the building was soon engulfed in flames, according to Bo Robertson, emergency management director.

The roof collapsed, and the entire building, about 20 units, was destroyed.

No cause had been identified on Sunday evening, Robertson said.

Workers from the American Red Cross were on the scene Sunday to assist those affected by the blaze, Robertson added.

Also on Sunday, a large fire destroyed the Heritage Inn in Brinkley, according to a Brinkley Police Department dispatcher. The Fire Department responded to the hotel call about 4:30 p.m.
